Spooky Halloween Peanut Butter Cups & Chocolate Covered Oreos

With Halloween a few days away, I’m bringing out all of the tricks and treats for our family to enjoy this holiday! Being a mom has really made me appreciate and elevate all holiday traditions, and as our toddler has gotten older, it’s been so sweet watching her enjoy the traditions as much as we do. We can’t wait for our son to be old enough to understand what’s going on, but at the same time, we’re fine with him staying little – oh, parenthood.

We plan on celebrating with the obvious traditions like painting and carving pumpkins (can already check painting off our list), baking pumpkin seeds, watching It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown way too many times and going trick-or-treating.

Of course, holiday traditions have to involve some sort of food in our household. I started the tradition of making chili on Halloween night along with a spooky treat (because you can never have too much sugar on Halloween). Last year I made a spooky bark which consisted of melted white chocolate, peanut butter cups, chocolate candies and Oreos.

This year, my daughter and I made peanut butter cups and chocolate covered Oreos together, but these are not your ordinary chocolate covered goodies, they’re super spooky and cute. I loved coming up with something that was simple and hands-on so that she could participate. If you have little ones – it’s the perfect holiday activity to enjoy with your little ones!  It was a ball making them together, Of course, her favorite part was licking the peanut butter from the spatula and stealing sprinkles.

If you end up making these this holiday, don’t forget to tag #marinamakeseats!
Spooky Halloween Peanut Butter Cups & Chocolate Covered Oreos
Ingredients
  • Cupcake liners
  • Package of Oreos
  • 1-2 cups of peanut butter (depending on how many you want to make)
  • 10 to 20 ounces of white baking chocolate (depending on how many treats you want to make)

Directions

To make chocolate covered peanut butter cups, place cupcake liners in a 12 cup muffin pan. Place a heaping tablespoon in each cupcake liner, smoothing the peanut butter down to cover the entire bottom of the liner. Place the muffin pan in the freezer for an hour or two, or overnight. When the peanut butter is hardened, lay parchment paper on a hard surface and melt the white chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals until completely melted. Drop peanut butter in the white chocolate quickly and cover completely with chocolate. Place the peanut butter cups on the parchment paper to cool and harden. Before the chocolate hardens, add sprinkles and googly eyes.

To make the chocolate covered Oreos, melt the white chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals until completely melted. Dip Oreos in the white chocolate quickly and cover completely. Place the Oreos on the parchment paper to cool and harden. Before the chocolate hardens, add sprinkles and googly eyes.
