Our 2019 Summer List

Brett and I have been together for over ten years now and our first summer together, I came up with this brilliant idea to create a summer list with all of things we wanted to do and places we wanted to visit together. Brett acted like he was on board, but looking back on it now, I know for a fact he must have been so annoyed that I had to plan out our summer. Haha! He is NOT a planner. Our list included things like watching a sunrise, painting with water balloons, playing with puppies, etc. Below is a picture of us accomplishing watching a sunrise together. Just a couple of kids, young and in love.

He was a trooper and good sport enduring the over dozen of things we wrote on that list and honestly, as much as I’m sure he wanted to rip that thing to shreds, we had the time of our lives making memories together. I can without hesitation say that it was one of my favorite summers. We carried on that tradition for another year and then it just sort of fizzled out and we’ve just been mentally crossing things off of our “life list”.

Fast forward ten years later, and I’m now making a summer list with our children. Not only did putting this together make me feel old, but also super nostalgic. We had fun! I’m all about creating traditions for our family, and Peyton is now old enough to voice her opinion and was a huge help in adding things!

By no means does this list guarantee that we will accomplish everything. I am not putting any pressure on us! It’s just a reminder that we want to spend the summer making memories just being together. I love taking that first step of writing down our dreams for the summer and I can’t wait to see some or most of them come to life.

If you have time, I’d encourage you to create one with your family or loved one(s)! It’s such a fun way to kick off summer and make a commitment to spend quality time together. I’m sharing ours below as pure inspiration! I know we’ll be adding to it as the months go by and tweaking it as we adventure together and I can’t wait to make memories. If you end finding inspiration, please tag me – I’d love to see what you’re going to be up to this summer!
