My husband is the s’mores king. He knows how to perfectly crisp up a marshmallow, likely has a method on how close the camping fork should be to the fire and his eyes practically roll back to the back of his head every time he bites into a pile of graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow. I gladly give him the title because growing up, s’mores weren’t my thing. They are now, but my liking doesn’t even come close to his obsession.
We made s’mores a couple of weeks ago with our kids and of course, they are big fans too. While we were eating them, I mentioned wanting to spice up our next s’mores night with unique toppings. Hey – I’m a food blogger! It’s my thing to think out of the box. Not only did a get a death stare from my husband, but I also got a flat out, “NO”.
You see, he’s a jet-puffed, Hershey’s marshmallow guy and a die-hard s’mores traditionalist. You wouldn’t ever catch him mixing up his s’more ingredients. Side note: I get wanting the jet-puffed marshmallows, but Hershey’s — really?? Yuck.
His reaction to my brilliant idea didn’t phase me. He knew I was going to put whatever I wanted on my next s’more anyway. And off I went to food dreamland where I thought up this s’more. My s’more of s’mores. Sea salt and almond milk chocolate (you best believe I didn’t pick up Hershey’s), sliced strawberries and marshmallows.
I honestly couldn’t have come up with a better combo. You must try this s’more before summer is over. Heck, add a bunch of different ingredients to your s’mores! Make a DIY s’mores spread. If you end up making this recipe, don’t forget to tag #marinamakeseats
Chocolate, Almond & Strawberry S’mores

- 2-3 bars of sea salt and almond chocolate (milk or dark)
- 1 cup of sliced strawberries
- 12 large marshmallows
