Fourth of July Bagel Board

It’s so strange to think about how different the Fourth of July will be this year. Last year, we watched our town’s parade, had a ton of fun with a bunch of our friends and their kids in our backyard, celebrated my mom’s birthday with my extended family and then watched the fireworks with Brett’s parents at night. It was a full day, but it was one for the books. It was a blast.

This year, things will look very different and I’m pretty sad there won’t be a parade or fireworks, but hey, this year we have a new little one to celebrate with and it will be just as great doing some stuff as a family of five.

Last year when we had our friends over, I got a ton of bagels and kept things simple. The kids and adults went to town and it got me thinking how fun it would be to do a bagel board with a bunch of cream cheeses, toppings and fruits. Whether you’re hanging with your family, or seeing a couple of friends this holiday, this board is such a hassle-free way to start the morning and kick off a day in the sun (hopefully!).

Here is what I used for the board:

  • Variety of bagels – I did cinnamon crunch, blueberry, strawberry and plain just to keep things on the sweeter side.
  • Cream cheese  – I loved using a couple of different kinds, including blueberry and strawberry. If you’re looking to make your own, mix 8 oz of cream cheese, 1/2 cup of blueberries or sliced strawberries and 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar with a hand mixer. Mix until everything is very well combined. Let it chill in the fridge for a couple of hours before serving.
  • Toppings – You’ll notice my board has sliced almonds, honey, chopped pecans and tons of berries. You can really add anything you think will go well with the bagels you pick out.

Happy Fourth of July to all of you! Hope you enjoy time with your loved ones.
