Shopping List for Baby #2

With baby number two coming in three months, I’ve started thinking about items we’ll need/want to accommodate two kids, as well as products that will make our lives easier with a toddler and a baby.

I did a lot of research when registering for our first and thanks to our gracious family and friends, we have many neutral baby items we love and because of that, we really don’t need to purchase a lot for our second child.

Being a mom for almost two years now, I’ve observed other products moms use in the grocery store, outdoors, or on social media, and through my stalking have made a mental wishlist of all of the products I’d like to purchase before our second is born.

I decided to write it all out and share my reasoning behind each product for any moms-to-be or moms of multiple children looking for new items to purchase. I also happily welcome any advice on what to buy from those of you reading the post. I love getting recommendations from other mamas, so please share!

baby number 2 essentials

1. Lalabu Soothe Shirt

Have you heard of the soothe shirt? If you haven’t, you’re missing out. It’s the perfect baby wearing product because it’s super simple and keeps baby close at all times. When I had our daughter, I immediately fell in love with it and wore it almost every day. It was always so easy to put our daughter in and kept her calm and sleepy every time she was in it. I would slip it on, slide her in and do things around the house, grocery shop or go on walks. It was by far my favorite baby product. The reason it’s on this list is because I have an “older model” and I’d like to get the newer one. It’s supposed to be more breathable and have more head support for little one.

2. DockATot

I believe I came across this product via social media and thought it was the coolest thing! It’s light weight, looks super comfy and is the perfect little place to dock a little baby. I can see this definitely coming in handy whenever I’m cooking, cleaning or playing with our toddler. To me, it’s more convenient than a swing because you don’t have to lug it around your house and you can easily travel with it. I think it would be perfect to bring to parties or while on vacation.

3. Binxy Baby Shopping Cart Hammock

I saw a woman using this cart hammock for her infant at Target. Before, I had always wondered what moms with multiples did if they had an infant and toddlers in the cart and this answered my question. It’s perfect because it barely takes up space in the cart and will allow me to keep our daughter in the front area (aka contained). This product is a must for me, especially when I think about all of the shopping trips I’ll need to make with the two of them. All I need is a lifetime supply of shopping snacks for our daughter and I’ll be golden.

4. BOB Double Stroller

We LOVE our BOB single stroller so, so much. It’s the greatest jogging stroller ever. It’s heavy duty, makes turning and going uphill easy, and allows us to go anywhere with our daughter. We use it to run together at least once a week and most of the time, she sits happily as we jog around our neighborhood. Because we all like it so much, I can’t imagine purchasing another brand. I’d love to try to find a used stroller though because the double BOB is pretty pricey.

5. QuickZip Crib Sheets

Another product we bought for our first that we loved so much – we just need more. These sheets are a parent’s dream. They easily zip off in seconds and are super convenient if your child every makes a mess in their crib. They’re hassle free too, you don’t even have to lift the mattress out of the crib to remove the sheet – so cool! I’d highly recommend these to first-time-moms, or any mom for that matter!

6. Chicco Keyfit Caddy

I remember seeing these all over the city when Peyton was first born. This is definitely not something we need, but will make quick trips out and about or around our neighborhood easier. To me, this is the perfect product to take out when our daughter prefers to walk around and I need something light and simple to put our baby in. I’m still iffy on buying one, so this is another one I’d absolutely purchase used.

7. A Gift from Baby #2

You’re probably wondering why there’s a set of little critters on this list. That’s because one of our more important purchases this time around is finding a little something special for the baby to give to our daughter. We’re hoping it will break the ice and keep her occupied among the chaos of becoming a family of four. I think she’d love something like this Calico Critters Music Set.

If you find my baby #2 wishlist helpful, please comment below and let me know. I’d love to hear from you!

  1. You’ll have to update how you use/like the dock! I have seen them all over and have been very interested! Also interested to see how long you use the binxy, because again seems like a great thing for multiples! Good luck! Can’t wait wait to follow along! 😊
